Parker Daniel's Baptism

{February 10th 2013}

Parker Daniel's Baptism. A day we were so looking forward to for months. A day we knew would be so special, engrained in our hearts forever. The day that our little guy would enter the Catholic Church; such a special Sacrament. .... And then Nemo came. Not the fish, but the dreaded Blizzard of 2013. It hit. And it was BAD. More snow than Parker has ever seen in his little life thus far. On the weekend that was HIS. All his. Panic, sadness, anger. All of the feelings that swept over me due to our lovely New England winter weather. Sense the sarcasm? We can get through this. The Baptism will surely go on.

And then we lost power. Friday night at 10pm. All of the food we needed to prepare on Saturday was in the refridgerator. Would it be spoiled because it would not be kept cold? How would we feed the people who were still planning on coming to the reception? Lots to figure out.

Saturday morning we still had no power, and the temperature in our house was dropping by the minute. Come on National Grid, work with us here. We have a very important day happening tomorrow, and it will not be ruined by the crazy amount of white stuff coating the ground. And the temperature in our house kept dropping. So what did we do? Packed up and went to Grandma's house (Grandma who has a generator..ahhh, heat!) By Saturday night we had heard that we still didn't have power in our neighborhood, so a plan was needed. Would the Baptism still go on? When and how would the food be cooked? And where would we sleep? First, we went to the Church where Parker was to be baptized and talked to the Priest. He told us that he could baptize anywhere. If the church didn't get power back by the morning, he would do it at Grandma's house. We would modify our menu, and the day would go on.

By Sunday morning the church had power and so did our house. Amazing. What a blessing. Parker would be baptized in our church. And the reception would go on at Grandma and Grandpa's house.  About 32 people showed up despite the Blizzard of 2013 dumping 2+ feet of white snow on our ground. What a blessing. That just showed us how special Parker is to everyone. The most special and happiest baby boy. So Parker Daniel, you were born on the first day of Summer (the hottest day!) and entered the Catholic church on the snowiest day of winter. We cannot wait to see how your faith grows as you learn about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We love you to pieces baby boy.

I will let the pictures of the day show you just how great it was. Hope you enjoy!
